When You Notice the Stripes.
The hallway striping endeavor was sadly back burnered due to some more pressing client projects and general winter ennui. But this weekend I got to taping and painting, and here's a bit of a progress report:
I scaled down the original stripe plan a bit, as the original would have been an overwhelming five feet wide.
The red stripe could use another coat, as red paint is the biggest pain ever.
Now I'm thinking that I'll scatter a random stripe or two throughout the hall, just to add interest and keep things balanced. Then I'll cover the remainder of the walls with beige, and repaint all the doors in eggshell.
I can't wait to peel off all the tape! I'll show off the results, of course.

You've impressed the crap out of me with your complex stripe pattern. My first painting project happened two summers ago. I decided to paint my office, changing it from white to dark green. Oh, what a terrible color for a first project. Dark green is very unforgiving if things are taped up perfectly, plus you need like three coats to ensure an even color. Boo, dark green. Very boo.

I had been anxiously awaiting your hallway pics. I would love to do a stripe somewhere in my house but haven't the patience/talent yet to do one as complicated as you are and have yet to convince my husband of how nice a simpler one would look also.
I know you had a post a little bit back about decorating and roommates, but what about tips on convincing those you live with that there are colours for the walls other than white that will keep a room/hallway looking bright?
